How to Identify a Google Penalty

Google penalty is one of the worst things which waste all your efforts you have done to get a desire rank of your website. You can recover it but it takes some time. Here are some ways to identify a google penalty

1- Check Your Website Traffic

If you feel your visitors are dropped down check your website traffic. If it’s dropped down suddenly it means your website is penalized by google. Now you have to check why your website traffic has dropped down and which penalty you’re facing by google. Is it manual penalty or an algorithm update penalty?

2- Check for Google Manual Penalty

If there is google manual penalty then surely you will receive a manual action against your website. You can check it by logging in to your account on google webmaster tools by clicking on “Search Traffic” and “Manual Actions”.

If there is any message in “Manual Actions” it means this message is sent by google and surely you’re facing manual Penalty.

3- Checking for an Algorithm Update Penalty

If there is no message in “manual actions” but your ranking is dropped down as well website traffic, check the algorithm updates. You can check it by Algorithm tracking Tools. These tools check the targeting websites which have low quality and Duplicate content (Panda Penalty), and those websites which have over optimized anchor text (Penguin Penalty).

4- Check and Recover Panda Penalty

When google targeted you as Panda Penalty It means your website has low quality and Duplicate Content. You can check it by logging in to your webmaster tools account. On the left side there will be a menu bar. By clicking on “Search appearance” and then “HTML improvements” you can check if you have any Duplicate Content, and also can identify a google penalty.

If you find some pages, make sure to delete them or unfollow those pages and make a habit to use Plagiarism Checker tools.

5- Check and Recover Penguin Penalty

When you add low quality or Irrelevant backlinks and unnatural anchor text, google penalizes your website and it is called penguin penalty.

To check and recover the penguin penalty first check your backlinks and anchor text distribution by logging in to your Monitor Backlinks account. Find the links that are cause of your google penalty and try to remove them. If you can’t remove these links submit the list of these links to google.

6- Check Page Rank         

You can check your page rank to identify a google penalty. To check the page ranking enter your domain name in search bar, you can compare your page rank with the past rankings. If you find it lower than past rankings it means you may have a penalty.
